The December holidays are rolling around, and there is no better place to celebrate and make memories than Scottsdale. The city is home to endless events and adventures for all people but especially for families! This guide mentions several things to do in Scottsdale and make your December, unforgettable.

Located in Salt River Fields, the Enchant Scottsdale is the world’s largest winter wonderland dominated by over 4 million sparkling lights. The lights create a walk-through story-themed maze that will amaze you.

This charming village offers live entertainment, ice skating, a photo opportunity with Santa Claus, and much more. Plan to bring your family here for Christmas and enjoy the wonder that awaits you. Open everyday until January 1st, tickets start at $32 for adults and $20 for children. Night Owl Tickets $25.

Rediscover the Christmas magic by going to the Christmas at the Princess and enjoying good food, colorful light shows, and taking a selfie with Santa at the Enchanted Plaza. There are a lot of family-friendly activities to partake in from the ice skating rinks, the ferris wheel, many small shops to bring some christmas cookies and toys home as well as a ton of great places to stop and eat. This Christmas Village at the Princess Scottsdale can accommodate all families and is the perfect weekend stop before Christmas!

Some of their signature events include:

  • Chateau Champagne

  • Desert Ice Skating Rink

  • Photos with Santa

  • Lagoon Lights and Princess Express Trains

  • S'mores Land at the Village

  • The Village

  • Winterland

  • Holiday Character Appearances

  • Enchanted Plaza Shows

  • Twinkle Town

  • Nativity Garden and Narrated Light Show

  • Make-A-Wish at the Princess

Instead of breaking the bank by staying at The Fairmont, make sure to book your stay at The Beverly and grab tickets for this event. General admission self parking tickets are $80 and it includes 4 wristbands for entry.

Participate in sports history by spending New years Eve at the VRBO Fiesta Bowl where TCU will go up against Michigan. Hosted at the State Farm Stadium, the same stadium the Superbowl will be hosted this year - you will have an epic game of football to watch in the indoor stadium. Watch at #2 Michigan goes head to head with #3 TCU and see who comes out on top.

New Year Events

If you are wondering how to usher in the new year, Scottsdale offers unlimited options for things to do on New Year’s Eve. Here are a few:

Close out the year at the Talking Stick Resort and play the newest games and classic favorites like Omaha and Texas Hold’em at one of the largest poker rooms in Arizona. There are also plenty of giveaways and jackpots so that you can start your new year as a lucky person.

Head to Southwest Scottsdale and enjoy quality family time. Zoolight is one of the city's biggest December holiday light displays, with over 2 million multi-colored lights spread throughout the zoo.

There are also animated displays and activities like carousels, wagons and camel rides that your kiddos will love exploring. Once done with the fun, head to the onsite kiosk and order some snacks and hot chocolate as you count the hours to the new year. Don’t leave without purchasing different animal-themed gifts at the gift shop, and lighten up the new year for your loved ones. Remember to purchase your tickets online and save $5!

There is so much to do and so much magic in Scottsdale in December. We hope you are able to attend some of the events listed above, our favorite so far was the Christmas at the Princess. Plan your visits early so you can make the most of your holidays.
